Side project: Project Quest

First little guy Ive set up to do in this super, what is actually an overly ambitous, project.

It's bad photo, bad camera and curently mostly black model to not match.  Looking forward to finishing this guy.  Should of undercoated white, but I've had such terrible trouble with that.  I'm a very lazy painter, and any missed parts with a black undercoat just show up as shadow.  With a white base, missed bits how up as glaring white spots that are obvious mistakes.  But on the other hand mastering white would make it a much better painter.  Regardless, This guys is going to finish up with a overly bright scheme as befits his Wardancer role.  Troubled as to how to paint the blades.  It's my belief Wood Elves despise metal.  And not 100% on what colours to do him in.  Greens obviously, but don't want just green.  Check out the super amateur flagstone sculpting.  Hope to get a look at the wood elf book for inspiration at some point.

First time it's made me feel sick

I don't think it's any secret that Citadels Foundation paint smells a but funky. I always thought Mechrite Red was potent, but just cracked open gretchin green, and now I feel physcially sick.
The stuff is god awful.

It does seem to be a good base for the pale green robes I want my Clan Moulder skaven to have though, thankfully packmasters are few and far between so exposure to this smell will be minimum.

it's called progress

Several weeks of on/off painting has resulted in...

One plague monk. Just a test really to see if dirty white worked, and it does. Not got any more spray to undercoat his 29 mates though

One plague priest.

One infantry squad. Puts me up to 4 whole platoon squads, omg.

One Astropath. Easiest model to paint ever. Seriously.

One skaven clanrat unit. Looks ok I guess. They are supposed to have shields, which I also painted, but no glue - so no shields for them. I'm hoping that when they get the shields it improves them in some way. They look odd to me. Too much space between them.

Anyway, now out of undercoat spray, glue and worst of all bestial brown (does fur and is used for basing") and boltgun metal. Guess thats the end of this particular pastime.

Jezzails!!

Finished them!! The sum of the past three days.

Shields look damn awesome. shame about the rest of them >_> Still, only part the enemy should see :D

Cloth also is extremely good looking, dunno what the pic has done the face of the one the left. It's really doesn't look that bad >_<

It's progress!

Painting

Been painting jezzails this morning. About 60% done on all 8 of them. Just got shields, gun and the details to do + basing. iphone well needs a flash, or I need a lamp. I have photos of virtually nothing. White background is nicely visible though :D

But newest toy...

Wet palette!!
Best invention ever. The bestial brown in there is from 7 hours ago, and it's still wet! What it means is that I get to concetrate more on painting rather than having to keep the paint from drying out.
